Public Involvement

The UConn Landfill Remediation Project included five years of planning, investigation and review leading to the start of construction activities in Summer 2006.

The project provided for a Technical Review Committee, which developed investigation protocols and reviewed all of the technical information, and a Public Involvement Program, which reached out to interested and affected parties, including the Town of Mansfield, community and student groups and abutters to the study area.

Many of the public events are summarized in the UConn Update (copies are available in the Mansfield Public Library and on this web site at the Updates page).

Construction progress photos and reports will be updated monthly on this site beginning in August 2006. DEP will meet with UConn, construction management and contractors on a weekly basis and will gather information on construction progress monthly.
